Ready to get a new week started. The weekend was good. Spent time with the daughter-in-laws and daughter at a baby shower. They are the best, we had a great time. Sunday our daughter Jen, granddaughter Bre and myself went to see Phantom of the Opera. Great show! Jack took Austin (grandson) to the Scout O Rama. A big show put on by the Boy Scouts. They had a good time then Papa stopped by a sporting goods store and bought paint balls. Decided it was time to start showing Austin some of the fun toys. They hung a target on my green trashcan. It was pink when I got home. Also there were spots on the wall behind the trashcan. Good thing it comes off with water.

Fellow Clippers on the Gulf plus my mother get ready mother nature wants to let you know she is still out there. I know Sheri Fuller and Karen Jacobs are in Pensacola. Also a few classmates in LA and lots in FL.
Good luck to all affected by Ina -

I am back from my trip to Maryland and had a wonderful time with all my school friends and other friends. I went to Duane Denison's daughter's wedding reception at the National Harbor and it was great. My best friend Mary Briggs went as my date. We have known the Denison twins since the first grade.
Diane Glass and Dwight Denison were there of course. We were reminiscing about when were young and told a few stories to Duane's daughters about him. I really don't think they were shocked. Duane and Dwight are still the same. Hopefully I will be able to go down every month for the luncheons. I hope to see more of our classmates there every month. It was so great to see my good buddy Mike Anderson at the luncheon and Frank Kabolis. They are still as handsome as they were in school. They age very well and of course my good buddy Dave, too.

what a pleasant surprise to have all this chatter on an Monday morning. I was here at @ 6am but didn't have time to write. We had a really busy weekend. Friday evening was opening night for Beauty & the Beast at our community Theater. Both Ashton & Lauren (my granddaughters) were in the chorus. Ashton, the older one, played a rug who cartwheeled herself onto the stage. I was really surprised because I'd never seen the show before. Then Saturday & Sunday I worked at our Quilt Guild's show. We had close to 300 quilts on display plus other thinggs going on at the same time. I'm glad to see that Nita and Mary are doing well. Wish I could have spent more time with you all at the National Center when I was home lasst summer. My daughter & granddaughters really thought that day was special. Be well and keep in touch. Brenda

ashton, the older one played a rug a cartwheeled herselt onto stage and then flattened out. It really surprised me, as I had never seen the movie or knew anything about the show.

Jumping into the Island social whirl is quite a change after a very quiet summer in the mountains. Have spent the first week chopping back the growth after a wet summer. The Whaler is back in the water and ready to go and I am working on the sailboats and the garden. Lettuce and Neighbors are starting to flow in and we have friends from Fla here for a few weeks. The house survived the summer unscathed. Now if the wind would just lay down all would be fine, it has been blowing 25 -30 all week!

Hello All,
It's beautiful here in Southern Maryland. Leaves are colorful and the temperature is in the 60's. We are planning for Thanksgiving with our family which numbers around 30 now. The best news is we are having another grandbaby in May. Braden will be 2 in April so it will be exciting have two grandchildren. Can't wait!! I am working now so I miss the luncheons and I really MISS them. You guys have fun and I'll join in when I can. Everyone have a wonderful Turkey Day.

Okay I'm never mentioning sunshine again. About 2 minutes after I typed my weather report on Monday it clouded up and it's been dreary ever since.

Come on back out this way - we have plenty of that Vit D. We have a front coming - could bring some rain - but for the first time I am hopeing not. This weekend is the 3 Day Breast Cancer walk, which our daughter-in-law is walking in. She has been training for 5 months for this. And for those NASCAR fans, our big race is this weekend at PIR. Will enjoy the cooler temp though, down in the 70's.
Say a prayer for our daughter as the union at her story has decided to strike - not a smart move for the union. She is looking at the lost of a 15 yr job and real good benefits.

Great weekend on tap. Here at 10:30am enjoying the cooler temps 60degress presently.
NASCAR is in the Valley this weekend. Always brings excitement to the air.
Also our daughter in law, Monica is in the 3 day Breast Cancer Walk-60 miles. She has been training for 5 months for this weekend.
And the strike for where our daughter works has been adverted. She is attending college working towards being a nurse. So with school, kids, hubby etc all she needed was to lose that paycheck.
Have a good weekend and stay safe. Life is good.

Donna sounds like a very busy weekend. Glad the strike has been adverted. It may just be me but I sure don't think this is the time to go on strike. I know of the 415 people who worked in the plant that was closed in January where I worked only about 15% have found jobs.

That was just part of her stress Don. She was so against the strike. They pay nothing, NOTHING, for Blue Cross/Blue Shield family coverage. Any of you out there have coverage that good? I know we don't with Jack's company. The company was asking for $10-15 dollars a week for this coverage. The Union UFW 99 is crazy. I think what they were afraid of is with having to pay for health ins that the employees might drop their $15 a week union fees and put them out of a job. lol With unemployement at 17% here the decision was nuts. The stores started accepting temp applications and within a matter of hours had 11,000 applicants for 9,000 jobs. Columnist on TV were saying the same thing as you, so I think the Union got the message they could lose their fight. So after resigning herself to the fact that she would have some time off she had to she dragged her butt to work today with mixed emotions. lol
It's a rough market out there. Are you doing ok?

The union was definitely nuts! It would not surprise me if many members resigned. The only insurance better is government, and we still pay.

Health insurance is our largest expense. I hope this is not too political but I cannot believe all the nuts that are against health care! Even the Bahamians have better health care than we have in the States.

Donna thanks for asking. Things are going well. With my retirement and doing some consulting and I also audit for the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program I stay busy. Your right Dusty I know my Blue Cross Blue shield cost about 350 dollars a month.

Don, I believe you are correct about the history of Fort Washington. It was the War of 1812 that they took the fort and burned Washington,D. C. I used to work at Fort Washington as a National Park Historian.

Thanks Mike. Being a national park historian must have been a good job.
